Origin
When, why and how it was created
Konami adapted the rapidly growing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles property into an NES action game during the franchise’s late-1980s surge. The game predates the later arcade-style NES sequels and has its own mix of overworld navigation, platforming and character switching.
Early TMNT boom
Konami released the game during the late-1980s rise of the TMNT cartoon/comics phenomenon.
Not the arcade game
This is a distinct NES adventure with overworld exploration, platforming and turtle switching—not a port of the four-player arcade brawler.
